1. About this policy
HaoDoc (“we”, “us”; website haodoc.app) is a bilingual directory of doctors and clinics for Australia’s Chinese-speaking community. We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information.
We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Last updated: 15 June 2026.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect only what we need to provide the service:
- Information you give us: such as your name, email, phone and clinic/practice details when you contact us, submit a correction or removal request, or (once these features launch) register an account or claim a listing.
- Information collected automatically: usage data collected via cookies and similar technologies when you visit, such as IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring pages and timestamps (see section 4).
- Directory information about doctors and clinics: listing data shown on the site is sourced from public sources (e.g. clinic websites, publicly available practitioner registers and directories). It may include practitioners’ already-public professional details such as name, practice location, specialty and contact details (see section 7).
We do not seek to collect sensitive information (e.g. health, race, religion). Please do not send us your personal health information through this site. We do not provide medical care and do not need it.
3. How we use information
- To operate, maintain and improve the site and its search/filter features;
- To respond to your enquiries, correction or removal requests;
- To analyse site usage and improve content and experience;
- To display advertising (see section 4);
- To meet legal obligations and prevent fraud and abuse.
4. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and third-party services to understand usage and show ads:
- Google Analytics: measures traffic and usage. It sets cookies and collects de-identified usage data. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to prevent this.
- Google AdSense: serves advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies to show personalised ads based on your prior visits. You can manage or turn off personalised ads in Google Ad Settings, and read how Google uses data on partner sites.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as well.
5. Who we disclose information to
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it:
- Service providers: third parties that help us run the site (e.g. hosting, analytics, advertising);
- Where required by law: when required by law, regulation or a competent authority;
- Business transfer: if the site or its related assets are sold or transferred, relevant information may transfer to the buyer as part of that transaction (the buyer will remain subject to similar privacy obligations).
6. Overseas disclosure
Some providers we use (such as Google) are based outside Australia (primarily the United States), so some of your information may be stored or processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure it is appropriately protected.
7. About doctor and clinic information
Practitioner and clinic information on this site is drawn from public sources, is provided for reference only, and is not a recommendation or medical advice. Please confirm details directly with the clinic before seeking care.
If you are a listed practitioner or clinic and believe information is inaccurate, or you want it corrected or removed, please contact us at admin@haodoc.app. We will verify and action requests within a reasonable time.
8. Security and retention
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.
We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law, after which we delete or anonymise it.
9. Accessing and correcting your information
Under the Australian Privacy Principles (APP 12 and APP 13), you may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything inaccurate. Contact us at admin@haodoc.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, please contact us to have it deleted.
11. Third-party links
The site may link to third-party websites (e.g. clinic sites, booking platforms). Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
12. Complaints
If you believe we have handled your personal information in breach of the APPs, please first complain to us at admin@haodoc.app and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): www.oaic.gov.au.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Please check back periodically.
